Brief description of the Coordinating Beneficiary: The Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) is the leading technical and scientific public body of the Italian National Health Service. Its activities include research, control, training and consultation in the interest of public health protection, including scientific advice to Ministry of Health and European Commission. The Institute conducts scientific research in a wide variety of fields, from cutting-edge molecular and genetic research to population-based studies of risk factors for disease and disability, chemical and toxicological risk assessment, food safety, environmental and human health. ISS is a scientific consultant at both national and EU level on such topics as REACH, testing and assessment of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs), environment and health as well as new guidelines on toxicological testing.

Brief description of the Associated Beneficiary: The main interest of the Institute of Clinical Physiology of the National Research Council (IFC-CNR) in Pisa (IFC-CNR) is in the field of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, which are dealt with through a multiorgan and multisystem prospective, covering associated pathologies of the lungs, kidneys, and the metabolic and neuro-endocrine systems. IFC-CNR hosts laboratories of basic science, biology, biochemistry, molecular medicine, medical statistics, epidemiology, bioengineering, computer science, and experimental medicine. Main tasks attributed to the organization: Set up of web site with implementation of online questionnaire, data store, and monitoring the study. Store and analyses of urine samples; manage the data bank; perform the phthalates and BPA measurements; develop in cooperation with all the other subunit participating to project a risk assessment model.


ASSOCIATED BENEFICIARY: Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital (OPBG)

Brief description of the Associated Beneficiary: The Bambino Gesù Children Hospital (OPBG) is a Scientific Institute for Research, Hospitalization and Health Care, part of the Italian National Healthcare System, dedicated to paediatric and developing ages, at national and international referral centre. OPBG has specific research facilities for molecular, cellular and animal work supporting post-genomics, proteomics, microarray technology, cell and molecular biology, including animal facilities, cores for flow cytometry and cell sorting, statistical and informatics analysis. OPBG main tasks : coordination of the network of family pediatricians and studies on endocrine metabolic disorders in children. These activities will be coordinated by Prof. S. Cianfarani, director of the Unit of Molecular Endocrinology, - University Department of Paediatrics (OPBG), and the Paediatric Centre of Tor Vergata University (Rome).

Brief description of the Associated Beneficiary: UTV is the 7th among Italian Universities. UTV has 277 bilateral agreements with European Partner Universities, 900 mobility Scholarships, 200 cultural and scientific international cooperation agreements. In the EU 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development there are 68 active projects. Within Horizon 2020 (EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation 2014-2020): 5 proposed projects are being negotiated; 4 projects have already passed the first evaluation step. The University participates in 4 of the 54 projects FIR (Future In Research) approved in 2013.
