Biographical Notes

Dr. Tosini has a decennial experience in Molecular Biology of microorganisms and in the heterologous expression of recombinant proteins. In 1992 he worked as researcher at the Laboratory of Cell Biology of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) on the site-specific recombination in Bacteria. In 1997 he was involved in a project with the colleagues of the Laboratory of Bacteriology and Medical Mycology (ISS) on the genetic mechanisms of the antibiotic resistance in the gram-negative Bacteria. In 2003 he moved to the Unit of Gastrointestinal and Tissue Parasitic Diseases of the Department of Infectious, Parasitic and Immunomediated Diseases (ISS). He has identified many proteins expressed from the parasite Cryptosporidium parvum and contributed to the CryptoDB proteomic database (http://cryptodb.org/cryptodb/). At present, he is a member of the editorial board of “The Open Parasitology Journal” and is in charge of the Cryptosporidium section at the CRLP.
