Curriculum vitae

Biographical Notes

Dr. La Rosa has more than 20 years experience in basic and applied research, in the field of biochemical, molecular and genetic characterization of parasites.
In 1988 he joined the Laboratory of Parasitology of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, where he carried out studies on genetic characterization of parasite populations of nematodes belonging to Trichinella genus, in order to elucidate the epidemiology of parasite transmission and the evolutionary relationships among species. He also carried out studies on molecular epidemiology and diagnosis of Echinococcus and opportunistic parasites in HIV persons. Moreover, he gave lectures of training courses held at various Italian institutions for medical staff working for the national health system, on molecular methods for the laboratory diagnosis of human parasitic diseases.
He is member of the “International Commission on Trichinellosis”, and at present is in charge of the Molecular Section at the CRLP.
He published more than 80 papers on international and national scientific journals.
